Prof. Dr Sandro Serpa is Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology of the Faculty

of Social Sciences and Humanities of the University of the Azores since 2013. He has been a

higher education faculty member since 2000. He received his Master’s in Sociology from the

Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities of the Nova University of Lisbon in 2004, and his

PhD in Education, with the speciality in Sociology of Education in 2013, from the University

of the Azores. He is an integrated researcher at the Interdisciplinary Centre of Social Sciences

of the Azores Centre (CICS.NOVA.UAçores) (https://www.cics.nova.fcsh.unl.pt/researchgroups-1/6-education-knowledge-and-culture/school-and-community/sandroserpa?lg=uk).

He has teaching experience in areas such as Research, Sociology of Education, Introduction

to Sociology, General Sociology, Sociology of Organisations, Psycho-sociology of Educational

Organisations, and Human Resources, among others.

He carries out research in the fields of the Teaching Sociology; Sociology of Education; Sociology of Organisations; Organisational Culture; Scientific Communication, Digital Society; Digital Literacy and Society 5.0.

He is member elected of the Executive Council of Associação Portuguesa de Profissionais em Sociologia Industrial, das Organizações e do Trabalho (APSIOT) (Portuguese Association of Professionals in Industrial, Organizations and Work Sociology), and Bachelor in Social Work Coordinator.

Editor of Current Social Sciences – Sociology section. He has served the Cogent Social Sciences journal as Senior Editor - Sociology section (2020-2022).
