Abstract

RESUMEN El presente trabajo propone un análisis del libro Pueblo-Continente (1939) de Antenor Orrego con la finalidad de demostrar que América Latina se encuentra construida en calidad de personaje conceptual. Para ello, dialogaremos tanto con los postulados teóricos de Stefano Arduini como con los de Gilles Deleuze y Félix Guattari; asimismo, luego de revisar el contexto y la recepción crítica del texto de Orrego, nos centraremos en tres aspectos cardinales en función de América Latina: uno, la presencia de rasgos biológicos y cognitivos; dos, la búsqueda de una voz y un pensamiento propios respecto del europeo; y, tres, su acepción en tanto territorio que alberga al nuevo hombre americano. Finalmente, sostenemos que América Latina se personifica en Pueblo-Continente para mostrar sus problemáticas y procesos tensionales, pero también sus potencialidades como un escenario orgánico y en construcción.

ABSTRACT The present study proposes an analysis of Antenor Orrego’s book Pueblo-Continente (1939) in order to prove that Latin America is built as a conceptual persona. For that purpose, we will explore the theoretical principles of Stefano Arduini, Gilles Deleuze and Felix Guattari; likewise, after reviewing the context and the critical reception of Orrego’s text, we will focus on three cardinal aspects based on Latin America: one, the presence of biological and cognitive features; two, the search for their own voice and thinking regarding Europe; and three, their sense in terms of the territory that host the new american man. Finally, we maintain that Latin America is personified in Pueblo-Continente to expose their issues and tensional processes, but also their potential as an organic and under construction scenography.
