Abstract

El campo de batalla entre los contendientes de la Guerra Civil Española superó las propias fronteras geográficas peninsulares. Allá donde hubiera españoles la división ideológica que había traído el conflicto se hizo patente y se crearon grupos de presión en apoyo de uno u otro bando. Este escenario fue común entre las colectividades españolas emigradas a América Latina. Este artículo analiza el caso argentino, recorriendo algunas de las muchas sociedades, publicaciones, grupos e instituciones creadas por la colectividad y planteando una visión de sus posicionamientos para con los bandos en liza. Específicamente, centra su objetivo en estudiar la cantidad y la calidad del apoyo al fascismo español entre los españoles residentes en Argentina, luego de lo cual concluye que estas han sido frecuentemente infravaloradas.

Translated abstract

The battlefield of the Spanish Civil War extended well beyond the geographical borders of the peninsula. The ideological division brought about by the conflict was evident wherever there were Spaniards, and pressure groups arose in favor of one side or the other. This scenario was common among the communities of Spanish immigrants to Latin America. This article analyzes the case of Argentina by reviewing several of the many associations, publications, groups, and institutions created by the Spanish community in Argentina, and providing an overview of its positions with respect to the parties in conflict. The article 's main objective is to examine the support provided to Spanish fascism by Spaniards residing in Argentina, in order to show how the quantity and the quality of that support have often been underestimated.
