          Abstract

          The COVID‐19 pandemic has pointed out the urgent need to employ advanced and smart materials to realize innovative medical protective equipment. To this end, the next‐generation face masks are conceived to be personalized, smart, and reusable. This great achievement can be accomplished thanks to light‐responsive and fibrous nanomaterials' unique chemical and physical properties. This synergistic approach allows the realization of a new generation of face masks effective against pathogens upon light activation. For further information see the Concept article by F.
