Aquatic Living Resources - diamond open access

Ecosystem Approach to Management

Aquatic Living Resources publishes original research papers, review articles and prospective notes dealing with all exploited (i.e. fished or farmed) living resources in marine, brackish and freshwater environments. Both basic and applied articles are welcome.

Priority is given to ecosystem-based approaches to the study of fishery and aquaculture social-ecological systems, including biological, ecological, economic and social dimensions.

Research on the development of interdisciplinary methods and tools which can usefully support the design, implementation and evaluation of alternative management strategies for fisheries and/or aquaculture systems at different scales is particularly welcome by the journal. This includes the exploration of scenarios and strategies for the conservation of aquatic biodiversity and research relating to the development of integrated assessment approaches aimed at ensuring sustainable and high quality uses of aquatic living resources.

Cahiers Agricultures

Cahiers Agricultures is a - mainly - French language scientific journal on world farming systems, how they are changing and their role in society. It is aimed at all those – researchers, field workers, teachers – who are interested in a holistic reflection on the agricultural world. The journal also publishes papers in English when written by authors from English speaking countries.

Cahiers Agricultures gives priority to research on agriculture as implemented by farmers, that has meaning for citizens in countries in the North and South, as opposed to research work conducted in a controlled environment (laboratory, research center, etc.). Research of this type is often multidisciplinary and takes into account the knowledge and know-how of the different stakeholders. The different parties are also actively involved in research, alongside the scientists. In this way, the journal stimulates debate on issues linked to society, such as the impact of using water and nitrogen fertilisers, peri-urban farming, fish farming, livestock production in rural areas, food security, etc.

EPJ Photovoltaics

EPJ Photovoltaics is an open access journal which publishes original, peer-reviewed papers focused in the field of photovoltaic solar energy conversion. Authors in the field of crystalline, polycrystalline, thin film (silicon, CIGS, organic) and third generation PV are called to submit their research letters and regular articles for a fast publication and broad audience (open access). The journal will also promote interaction with research topics related to high efficiency cells such as materials and structures for optical trapping, third generation concepts. Moreover, we aim to establish solid links with the research activities in the field of modules, systems and PV deployment.

EPJ Photovoltaics promotes and supports papers and special issues that contribute to the achievement of the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems - diamond open access

Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems (KMAE-Bulletin Français de la Pêche et de la Pisciculture since 1928) serves as a foundation for scientific advice across the broad spectrum of management, conservation and restoration issues related to inland aquatic ecosystems (including their intermittent states and adjacent systems like riparian or hyporheic zones), such as springs, streams, rivers, floodplains, lakes, ponds and wetlands.

Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems publishes novel, broad-reaching papers on the interface between changes in the physical, chemical and biotic aspects of the freshwater environment and their consequences for biological communities (e.g., micro-organisms, algae, macrophytes, invertebrates, fish and other vertebrates) and ecosystems functioning (e.g., productivity, food-webs, decomposition rates). Knowledge and Management of Aquatic Ecosystems approaches all major themes in applied ecology, such as conservation biology, physical environmental degradation and pollution, climate change, restoration ecology, and the management of invasive species and diseases. In that, the journal aims to improve the scientific understanding of freshwater ecosystems degradation and to provide science-based solutions for an effective conservation and management of freshwater habitats, species and ecosystem functioning. Its scope also includes economic and social studies (including cultural, philosophical, political, educational and historical aspects), in so far as they are directly concerned with the management of freshwater ecosystems and prove of general interest to freshwater specialists, stakeholders, managers and policy makers.

Natures Sciences Sociétés

Natures Sciences Sociétés publishes articles dealing with all aspects of the relationship between man and nature, including human nature. This may include representations of nature, its use, its transformation due to the biological, physical and chemical processes on which human life depends, and the consequences of these transformations and the manner in which man copes with them. These themes encompass a large number of disciplines (natural sciences, life sciences, sociology, engineering and research processes).

Renewable Energy and Environmental Sustainability

An open access journal publishing innovative papers in Renewable Energy. Types of article include research articles, review articles, novel applications, theoretical analysis and technologies, and Editorials covering areas including efficiency improvement, energy conservation and sustainability, policy issues and education for sustainable environment and finance. REES promotes and supports papers and special issues that contribute to the achievement of the UN's sustainable development goals, in particular SDG 7 (Affordable and clean energy) and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

Le phénomène de transition nutritionnelle que connaissent les populations du continent africain comprend notamment la densification calorique de l’alimentation associée à l’augmentation de la prévalence de l’obésité et des maladies chroniques et dégénératives. Il est impératif de comprendre ces changements alimentaires en conjonction avec la transition épidémiologique en cours pour mieux prévenir les pathologies associées à la surcharge pondérale, comme l’hypertension et le diabète de type 2, en augmentation particulièrement rapide en Afrique centrale.

Recent discoveries, outlined in this book, have gradually unveiled a complex picture, in which our variable Sun a¬ffects the climate variability via a number of subtle pathways, the implications of which are only now becoming clear.

This handbook provides the scientifically curious, from undergraduate students to policy makers with a complete and accessible panorama of our present understanding of the Sun-climate connection. 61 experts from di¬fferent communities have contributed to it, which reflects the highly multidisciplinary nature of this topic.

Changement climatique : un défi pour les ingénieurs

Les scientifiques et les ingénieurs ont un rôle majeur à jouer pour l’avenir de l’humanité : ce sont eux qui ont pu alerter le monde sur le danger que court le climat de la planète et sur ses conséquences ; ce sont eux qui en ont identifié une cause très probable et sur laquelle nous pouvons réagir. Notre action dépend de nombreux facteurs : prise de conscience universelle, volontés politiques, solidarité entre les Etats et les peuples, moyens financiers... mais aussi in fine moyens scientifiques et techniques. Cependant, les ingénieurs ne sont pas des magiciens. Remplacer l’usage des ressources énergétiques traditionnelles, stockées depuis des millions d’années, par des ressources non carbonées, autant que possible renouvelables (nucléaire, hydraulique, géothermie, biomasse, vent, soleil…) demande du temps.
