Infectious Diseases and Translational Medicine (IDTM) is devoted to basic, applied research and translational research of infectious diseases, including diagnostics, therapeutics and preventive countermeasures as well as the related basic research focusing on genomics, proteomics and other omics-driven research for revealing evolution, pathogenesis and epidemiology etc. The journal allows free access (Open Access) to its contents and permits authors to self-archive final accepted version of the articles on any OAI-compliant institutional / subject-based repository. The journal does not charge for submission, processing or publication of manuscripts and even for color reproduction of photographs.

The following types of articles are considered for publishing in IDTM.
Original Research articles report hypothesis-driven or data-driven results of original research, and the original results are presented, interpreted and discussed. The possible implications should also be included. The Original Articles could have a maximum word count of 15,000 and may include 10-15 Figures/Tables. Currently, the author does not need to pay a fee to publish an Original Research Articles.
Case Report should present cases that make a significant contribution to the body of knowledge in the medical field, including background information, clinical presentation, laboratory examination and a discussion of the significance of the cases. Especially, the authors should discuss the translational significance of the cases, i.e., how the case report influences the clinical practice of doctors. Case Report has a maximum word count of 15,000, with up to 10-15 Figures/Tables.
Letter to Editor articles should be arranged in the following order: (a) Title section, including Title, Running Title, Keywords, Authors, Author Affiliations, and Correspondence. (b) Main text. (c) Acknowledgements. (d) References. (e) Figure legends. (f) Tables. (g) Figures. (h) Supplemental materials. It has up to 1,500 words with 2 Figures/Tables
Critical Review articles describe topics progressed significantly in recent years with broad general interest and they should be in comprehensive depth and intellectual insight. There is no word count limit for this type of article and may include up to 20-25 Figures/Tables. The Critical Review should be authorized in the field.
Mini Review articles present a viewpoint on hot topics or an important area of investigation. The Mini Review articles should focus on a specific field by presenting up-to-date advances and future directions. The word count for this type of article is 3,000 and may contain no more than 3 Figures/Tables.
Editorials are invited articles for hot topics or a specific issue. Editorials have a word count of up to 1,500 with one Figure/Table.
This is a short comment on recently published paper on hot topics. Word limit is no more than 500 words.
