Guide for Authors

 

Information for Authors

The Ibadan Journal of Sociology (IJS) is published twice a year by the Department of Sociology, University of Ibadan, Nigeria. All articles submitted are reviewed anonymously by at least two experts in the field. Submissions can take various forms as follows:

  • Regular articles: present and discuss original research within any area of Sociology/Anthropology. Research article should be minimum length of 4000 words and maximum of 8000 words including references, tables and figures.
  • Policy papers: report research relevant to policy-making on various aspects of social development. Policy reports should be minimum length of 2500 words and maximum of 5000 words including references, tables and figures

 

Preparation of Manuscripts

An original manuscript written in English and not considered for consideration elsewhere should be submitted to the journal Editor via e-mail (ijsociology@ui.edu.ng). 

  • Research article should be minimum length of 4000 words and maximum of 8000 words including references, tables and figures. 
  • Policy reports should be minimum length of 2500 words and maximum of 5000 words including references, tables and figures. 
  • A cover page should accompany each manuscript showing (i) Title (ii) name(s) of the author(s); (iii) institutional affiliation(s) of the author(s); (iv) Corresponding author’s email address (v)Abstract of 150 words (v) Five (5) keywords 
  • For research articles, the subject matter should be organized under the following headings (i) Introduction, (ii) Methods, (iii) Results, (iv) Discussion (v) Conclusion (vi) Acknowledgements (if any) (v) References
  • Number of tables and figure in a manuscript should be a maximum of four.
  • Contributions are accepted on the understanding that the authors have obtained the necessary authorization include ethical clearance for the publication of their articles.
  • Author(s) should declare if there is conflict of interest at the submission of article for peer review.
