          Bio :

          Nicola McLelland is Professor of German and History of Linguistics at the University of Nottingham. She has published widely on the history of language learning and teaching. Her publications include German Through English Eyes (Harrassowitz, 2015, now open access), and Teaching and Learning Foreign Languages. A History of Language Education, Assessment and Policy in Britain (Routledge, 2017). She has co-edited, with Richard Smith, The History of Language Learning and Teaching (3 volumes, Legenda, 2018), as well as two special issues in the field. Email: Nicola.McLelland@nottingham.ac.uk
